Nearly 4,000 members of the Jain community including women and children took out a march this morning for world peace on the thoroughfares of the city in which 75 tableaux displaying messages about world peace and 25 horse-driven sarots depicting real life images of Jain rulers and spiritual leaders were on display.
The procession, which started with the chanting of Vedic hymns in the presence of Sumathinath Jain Shwethambara Murthipoojaka, Jain Acharya Sri Vijaya Abhaya Sena Suriji Maharaj, Sudhindra Senji Maharaj and Deepsen Maharaj at Sri Sumathinath Jain Temple on Theerthankara Road near Sangam theatre, passed through Gandhi Square, Dufferin Clock Tower, Devaraj Urs Road, Dewan’s Road, Irwin Road and Ashoka Road, culminating at the temple.
MLA Vasu, Corporator Rajalakshmi, Sangha Chairman Hansraj Jain, Secretary Ashok Jain and President Devanth Raj Jain were among those present in the march for world peace.
