Mysore, Apr. 23 (KK&DM)- The newly-elected City Mayor Sandesh Swamy informed here that he had a vision for developing the city into international one.
Speaking to press persons after assuming office here yesterday, Sandesh Swamy said that he would function taking into confidence all the Corporation officials, Corporators and other people's representatives.
He would focus on maintaining hygiene, cleanliness and health in the city, apart from giving importance on providing basic amenities. Also, the funds granted for the execution of JNNURM projects will be judiciously utilised, he added.
Claiming that his win was a victory for democracy, Sandesh Swamy said that some leaders had hatched a conspiracy to thwart his win. But ultimately, he overcame all odds and managed to win.

The 48-year-old Sandesh Sw-amy hails from Sitapura Village in Pandavapura Taluk. He is the younger brother of MLC and Film Producer Sandesh Nagraj.
Sandesh Swamy, who has studied upto PUC, began his political career even while involved in film production and hotel Industry. He was twice elected as Corporator.
He was elected as JD(S) leader in the Corporation twice and also functioned as the Chairman of Finance standing Committee, besides being member of Tax, Finance and Appeals standing Committees.
City's heritage should be protected: Dy. Mayor Pushpalatha
Mysore, Apr. 23 (KK&DM)- The newly-elected Deputy Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath observing that it was necessary to protect City's heritage and said priority will be to solve the City's drinking water problems.
The city will be beautified by maintaining cleanliness and providing underground drainage systems. She said she would join hands with the Mayor in executive development works.

Pushpalatha Jagannath, who has involved herself in public service along with her husband Jagannath, contested the Corporation elections as an independent as she was denied a Congress ticket and won. She however later identified herself with the Congress. The 37-year-old Pushpalatha Jagannath is the daughter of Devaraja Mohalla’s B. Shivananjegowda and Lakshmidevi couple. A B.Com graduate, Pushpalatha entered politics after her marriage.
