The third and final rehearsal of Independence Day Parade was held at the University Oval Grounds near DC’s office here today.
City Police Commissioner Dr. M.A.Saleem supervised the parade rehearsal which was attended by 24 contingents including CAR, DAR, KSRP, Mounted Police, NCC, Home Guards, Scouts and Guides and others. Two Police Bands were in attendance to provide the beat and pomp to keep the march instep.
The parade rehearsal was followed by a rehearsal of cultural programmes staged by about 2,000 school children rendering devotional and patriotic songs.
Later, the Police Commissioner inspected the parking facilities for I-Day celebrations at Scouts and Guides Ground, Cosmopolitan Club premises, Varsity Hockey Grounds and all along the Radhakrishnan Avenue. Interestingly it was noted that while the DC has banned the use of plastic flags, all kids were seen holding plastic flags during the rehearsal.
DCPs M.M.Mahadevaiah and A.N.Rajanna, DCP CAR Prabhashankar, Parade Commander ACP Mallikarjunappa and others were present.
