Mysore, June 2 (DM)- Exhorting Booth Level Officers (BLO) to make sure that there was 100% issuance of voter ID cards to those who have not yet been photographed, despite being enrolled in the electoral list, Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. C.G. Betsurmath said strict compliance of the Election Commission’s directive in this regard was imperative.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Mysore District BLOs' training programme on the issuance of voter ID cards at the Town Hall here yesterday.
The Additional DC said that since a large number of voters from city's Chamaraja, Narasimharaja, Krishnaraja and Chamundeswari constituencies have not obtained their photo ID cards, BLOs should undertake a door-to-door inspection of the houses and identify those who have not yet received their photo ID cards. He advised them to fill up application forms on the spot and collect photographs, saying this training was necessary for the success of ensuring 100% issuance of voter photo ID cards.
The MCC Election Officers and BLOs coming under the ambit of the MCC took part in the training programme.
Printed application forms were handed over to the Election branch of the City Corporation for classification before being distributed to the BLOs. It is expected that the application forms will be handed over to the BLOs this evening. Door-to-door visits will commence from tomorrow morning and all necessary preparations have been completed, Corporation Council Secretary Gayathri told Star of Mysore.
The classification for Mysore is going on at the Taluk Offices on Hunsur Road while for other taluks it will be going on at the respective Taluk Offices.
