The fourth epic of renowned poetess Dr. Latha Rajashekar titled ‘Mahaveera Mahadarshana’ was released by litterateur Dr. Hampa Nagarajaiah at a programme organised jointly by Kalpavruksha Trust, Digambara Jain Samaj, Jain Mahila Samaj and Vagdevi Prathishtana in association with the District Kannada Sahitya Parishat at Kalamandira here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Hampa Nagarajaiah regretted that Prakrit language though as ancient as Sanskrit, did not get the needed status. He urged the government to open a Prakrit University on the lines of Sanskrit University. Lauding the epic, Nagarajaiah opined that composing a poem was a tough proposition which has to follow certain stringent norms.

Addressing the gathering, Parishat State President Pundalik Halambi observed that today’s life was a psychological turmoil which could be dealt effectively only through the philosophy of Mahaveera.

The first copy of the newly released epic was given to D. Harshendra Kumar couple.

Scholar G. Brahmappa, former VC of Agriculture Univeristy Dr. M. Mahadevappa, Dhvanyaloka Director Dr. C.N. Srinath, Jain Study Centre Chairman N. Prasanna Kumar, Parishat District President M. Chandrashekar, Kalpavruksha Trust President Dr. H.B. Rajashekar, Jain Mahila Samaj President Sheela Anantharaj and Vagdevi Prathishtana member B.S. Asha Shankaregowda were present.
