Mysore, June 28 (DV&MTY)- Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India, will address the advocates at Crawford Hall of Mysore University at 4 pm on June 29. This was disclosed at a press meet at Pathrakarthara Bhavan today by Mysore Bar Association President C. Appaji Gowda. This is the first time in the history of Mysore Bar Association that a former President is addressing the office-bearers of the Association, he said.

As Dr. Kalam is fond of children, the Association will honour a poor talented student on the occasion with an honorarium of Rs. 5,000, he announced.

Mysore Bar Assn. Vice-President Puttaswamy, Secretary M.U. Subbaiah, Jt. Secretary Manjula Manasa and Director Shivakumar were present at the press meet.

Dr. Kalam to attend JSS Varsity convocation tomorrow

Mysore, June 28 (MTY&DM)- The first convocation of JSS University will be held at JSS Medical College's Rajendra auditorium in Shivar-athrinagar at 10 am tomorrow.

Announcing this at a press conference at Pathrakarthara Bhavan here yesterday, JSS University Vice-Chancellor Dr. B. Suresh said the former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who will be the chief guest, would deliver the convocation address.

Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji will preside. JSS University Pro-Chancellor B.N. Betkerur will be present.

Dr. Suresh said the JSS University, established in 2008, has been a deemed University as per Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. The University comprises JSS Medical College, JSS Dental College, JSS Pharmacy College and JSS Pharmacy College, Ooty.

"Postgraduate degrees will be awarded to 119 M.Pharma students of Mysore and Ooty JSS Pharmacy Colleges at the convocation," he said and added that gold medals will be distributed to toppers in each of the subjects.

JSS University Pro-Chancellor B.N. Betkerur, Registrar R. Vijayasimha and JSS Medical College Principal Dr. Basavanagoudappa were present at the press conference.

Dr. Abdul Kalam to visit De Paul School

Mysore, June 28- Rotary Club of Mysore West and De Paul International Residential School, Belegola, have jointly organised an Inter-School Science Exhibition in De Paul School. The exhibition was inaugurated this moment and will be open for public upto 5 pm.

The valedictory and prize distribution to the winning exhibits will be held at 12 noon tomorrow. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who will be the chief guest, will distribute prizes to the winners.

The Investiture ceremony of De Paul International School for the year 2010-11 and the formal inauguration of the auditorium of the school will also be held.

The main theme of the exhibition is Science and Society. There are four sub-themes. They are 1) Climate Change:Cause and consequences 2) Biology in Human Welfare, 3) Information and Communication Technology and 4) Science and Technology in Games and Sports.

Rev. Dr. Jose Aikara, Principal, De Paul International Residential School, will preside, Rtn. Dr. Ravi Appaji, District Governor, RI Dist, 3180, Rtn. Sudheer Bhat, Assistant Governor, Zone-7 and Rtn. Joseph Mathew, President, Rotary Mysore West, will be present.
