Mysore Feb. 28 (SH)- Health consciousness dawns most often when a crisis point is reached as a result of sufferings of various kinds. Regular exercises done properly protect us from ill-health. In that backdrop, it is ideal not to entrust our healthy to doctors, said MLA and Chief Minister’s Parliamentary Secretary S.A. Ramdas.

He was addressing a gathering of more than 100 enthu-siasts who took part in the sixth edition of Rhythmic Weekly Wellness Walk (RWWW) which began at 7 am today at Cheluvamba park on KRS Road.

Speaking as the chief guest of the occasion, Ramdas also called upon the parents and grand parents to guide their children and grand children to imbibe the healthy habits of rising early in the morning and cultivate habits that enable them to lead a healthy and orderly life.

He called upon the gathering to take oath to implement the steps needed to realise Vision-2020 to build a strong, healthy nation.

Earlier, Managing Trustee of Vijay Foundation, B.R. Pai, in his welcome address said that life was not based on the number of years one lived but it was the number of breaths. Hence, regular and deep breathing ensured not only health but also long life. Deep and regular breathing would also result in youthful looks, he added.

Dr. Manish Singhal, Chief Medical Officer, Columbia Asia Hospital, Mysore, said the adage ‘Prevention is better than cure’ should be adopted as the mantra of everyone’s life.

Sripad, music therapy exponent of Srian Envisions, Co-sponsors of RWWW, explained the impact of music combined with daily chores on health inducing mental faculty.

Dr. Anil Sangli, who demonstrated the various steps in rhythmic wellness walk, spoke on the benefits of integrating exercises and deep breathing into every-one’s daily life.

The CD ‘Swara Vaidya’ Volume-3, brought out jointly by Srian Envisions and Vijay Foundation, was released by MLA Ramdas.

The 75-minute CD, based on Neuromusical research conducted by Dr. Anil Sangli, Sripad and Amrutha, has been prepared for persons ailing with Neurological and psychologial problems, especially with walking disabilities.

Ratna Rao, Pranayama Expert and Rajkumar of Healthplus Care Clinic, Physiotherapists were present on the occasion.
