The controversy surrounding the Rs. 3 crore project for widening of Azeez Sait Double Road upto Shanthinagar has finally been resolved, thanks to the intervention of Narasimharaja MLA Tanveer Sait, who held discussions with the officials of various departments and the shop owners to resolve the issue.

The widening works of the stretch of Azeez Sait double road upto Shanthinagar had begun on June 29 and was subsequently stopped as many shop owners and members of a social organisation had protested against demolition.

In the face of these developments, Tanveer Sait had convened a meeting of officials from PWD, Revenue, Police, MCC and members of the Azeez Sait Double Road Shop Owners Association.

As per MCC bylaw of 1994, the width of main roads in city should be 39 meters while according to PWD it should be 46 meters and according to Government notification the same should be 50 meters, he said and added that in the interest of shop owners the road would be widened upto 30 meters.

Stating that the double road connects the city with about 19 extensions besides connecting the city with the proposed Mysore-Bangalore Infrastructure Corridor and establishment of ultra modern bus depot at Satagalli, he said that it was necessary to widen the said road to avoid traffic congestions and accidents.

The MLA also said that the Government had passed an order five years ago for widening of the road and construction of storm water drains on either sides. He said even the work of marking had been done and that many shop owners had voluntarily agreed to vacate the shops.

Many shop owners reportedly agreed to vacate the shops on their own when Tanveer Sait brought these points to their notice besides assuring all help for successful completion of the widening works.

DCP Basavaraj Malagatti, ACP Anjali, Inspector R.P. Ashok, Tahsildar Naveen Joseph, PWD Executive Engineer Krishnamurthy, JE Jagadish, Parvathi Devi and Nagalingappa of MCC zone eight office, Devaraj, Chennegowda and Aradhya of MCC zone nine office, leaders Shaukath Ali Khan, Iqbal Pasha, G.N.Manjunath, Younis, P.
