Mysore, June 17 (RK&KMC)- The district administration will give priority to the physically challenged persons of the district while issuing licenses for fair price shops and other government programmes meant for beneficiaries.
The assurance was given by Deputy Commissioner Harsha Gupta at the Public Grievances Meeting held at his office here this morning.
The plea to give priority to the physically challenged was put forth at the meeting by R.M. Swamy and Eshwar, office-bearers of the Mysore District Physically Challenged Persons' Multipurpose Co-operative Society.
The duo sought financial aid for members of the Society to become self-employed and also urged the DC to give priority while issuing licenses for fair price shops. Swamy said that there were 1000 members in the Society at present and many more physically challenged persons were living in the district outside the city. "The physically challenged persons are being disregarded in other government schemes like allotting house sites etc," they alleged.
They also urged the DC to provide computer trainers as the Society had 3 computers donated by a philanthropist but being unused for want of operators.
The DC, after hearing their grievances, assured to convene a separate meeting with the Officer for Physically Challenged, Women and Child Welfare and discuss the issue in presence of the Society’s office-bearers.
In another case, Leelavathy, an Anganawadi worker, complained that despite being transferred to a neighbouring village nearer her home where her aged parents lived, the previous Anganawadi worker refused to hand over charge.
In response, the DC spoke to the Child Development Programme Officer over the walkie-talkie and asked him to report.
The DC later spoke over the walki-talkie simultaneously with all the Executive Officers of various Taluk Panchayats of Mysore and directed them to ensure that there were enough stocks of manure and seeds of various crops of the region. He told them to report losses incurred by rains.
Additional DC Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, SP Rama Subba, ACP K.R. Sub-Division Vishnuvardhan, Mysore Taluk AC Bharathi, Hunsur taluk AC Vidya Kumari, Agriculture Joint Director Dr. Vishakanta, BCM District Officer Mayadevi Galagali, District Health Officer Dr. Raju and other officials were present at the meeting.
