Mysore, Aug. 1 (SH&RK)- Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa will hold the meeting of Dasara high power committee in city on Aug. 12, said District Minister S. Suresh Kumar.

After taking part in the preliminary meeting of officials relating to conduct of Dasara at the DC's office here on Saturday, the Minister told reporters about the above meeting by the CM.

Actions relating to this year's Dasara festival will be launched according to the decisions taken in the high power committee meeting to be chaired by the Chief Minister, he said, adding that measures required to celebrate the festival on a grand scale would be taken after decision during the Aug. 12 meeting.

"Today's meeting is not a preliminary Dasara festival meeting but only for obtaining necessary data and information," Suresh Kumar clarified. There was a need to work out the guidelines for the Police force, autorickshaw drivers and taxi operators on how to conduct themselves with the tourists, the Minister suggested.

The officials offered suggestions on various matters including food mela, forcing the elephants to wait for hours during the floral-offering to ambari, selection of artistes, producing tableaux, nominations to sub-committees, utilising the services of sponsors and celebration of the Nada Habba on a grand scale.

It has been decided to celebrate this year's Dasara from Oct. 8 to 17. Chief Minister Yeddyurappa will launch the celebrations by offering worship to Sri Chamundeshwari atop the hill at 10 am on Oct. 8, said Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Additional DC.

Cultural programmes of the festival will be launched at 12 noon in Kalamandira, Kusti at 2 pm, exhibition at 3 pm, tourism at 4 pm, food mela at 4.30 pm, flower show at 5 pm and the programmes at Mysore Palace at 6 pm.

Dr. Betsurmath disclosed that the Chief Minister will be the Chairman of the High-Power Committee while the District In-charge Minister will be the Chairman of the Executive Committee.

Budget

The Chief Minister had released Rs. 10 crore for the festival in 2008 while Rs. 9 crore had been released during 2009. The estimate of expenditure for this year's festival is required to be prepared and submitted before release, he said.
