Minister H.S. Mahadevaprasad presented a proposal for celebrating this year’s Dasara as a Festival of Nature in Chamarajanagar district.
Speaking at the meeting of officials of Chamarajanagar District Administration officials convened by Sreenivasa Prasad in connection with organising Raitha Dasara in Chamarajanagar also, Mahadeva Prasad said that no such events had been organised for the past 12 years despite Chamarajanagar being the native place of Chamaraja Wadiyar and also had a Chamarajeshwari Temple.
He also said that Rural Dasara events should be organised in all four taluks of the backward districts and also urged for a package tour to the tourist destinations in the district and added that the Nature Festival should be held by involving tribals and folklore events to be conducted atop M.M.Hills.
Instructing officials to ensure peaceful Jumbo procession on Vijayadashmi day, he called upon them not to distribute unauthorised passes.
Mahadeva Prasad said that cultural programmes would be held at Bandipur, B.R. Hills, Himad Gopalaswamy Temple by the Tourism Department during the festivities to introduce Dasara to the area.
“Cultural programmes will be organised on the lines of ‘Jalapatotsava’ with due prominance to tribals to attract tourists and a meeting in this regard will be held on Sept. 5 or 6 following which a proposal for sanction for required funds will be sent,” he said.
