Mysore, Apr. 4 (KCU)- Curtains came down on the three-day Yuvajana Mela of Mysore Division here yesterday.

Hundreds of young boys and girls coming from Mysore, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Kodagu, Udupi, Mangalore and Chikkamagalur Districts comprising Mysore Division participated in the Mela at Dasara Exhibition Grounds organised under the joint auspices of District Administration, Zilla Panchayat and Department of Sports and Youth Welfare and showcased their talents.

Delivering the valedictory address, Prof. M. Krishnegowda of St. Philomena's College regretted that the society and country were literally divided amidst various castes and religions.

"Till a sense of integrity and togetherness sets in, apprehension regarding the safety of the country continues to loom large. The onus of uniting all the people of the nation now rests on the youth," he opined.

Referring to the population of the country, Prof. Krishnegowda observed that a much more populous country like China has been progressing dramatically using its population itself as a resource. "On the same lines, our country's population as resource should also be effectively utilised. Youth should develop good behaviour and strength to counter injustice and excesses," he advised.

ZP President K.S. Dharmendra, Deputy Mayor Sharadamma, Police Superintendent Rama Subba, ZP Deputy Secretary Dr. Siddaramaiah, Asst. Director of Dept. of Youth Welfare and Sports K. Suresh were present.
