Mysore, Mar. 3 (KCU&KK)- Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa will launch Kabini drinking water project and upgrading work of Outer Ring Road on Mar. 27, announced Mysore City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner K.S. Raikar today.
He was presiding over the JNNURM progress review meeting at MCC here, in the absence of Deputy Commissioner and JNNURM Special Officer P. Manivannan.
Raikar told the meeting that the roadblocks set by farmers whose lands were acquired for Kabini project with respect to the payment of compensation have been resolved and the scheme would go on without a hitch henceforth.
MUDA Commissioner P.C. Jayanna said that considerable revenue has flown in through the auction of commercial and corner sites which could be utilised for the six-lane conversion work of the Ring Road.
24x7 Water
Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage board (KUWS &DB) Executive Engineer S. Subbegowda informed the meeting that 24x7 drinking water supply would be experimentally launched in selected five Wards of the City Corporation in June.
Citing the disruption of water supply owing to frequent power shutdowns, ACICM Convenor M. Lakshmana, participating in the meeting, suggested KUWS&DB to instal generators at the pumping stations of Kabini water to overcome the power crisis.
Ch' Hill bus stand
Replying to a query from Raikar about the status of upgrading work of bus stand atop Chamundi Hill, KSRTC Divisional Controller Srinivas pointed out that the land acquisition work has been stalled as the landowner had brought a stay order from the court and it has to be legally sorted out.
Srinivas pointed out that the Corporation Council had not cleared the land earmarked for constructing the satellite bus stand near the Sewage Farm. Raikar assured to do the needful once the Mayoral polls was through.
Slum Clearance Board
Corporators Somashekar and others alleged that the beneficiary list of slum-dwellers for rehabilitation was improper and biased, as the genuine and needy ones were left out, this being confirmed by over 250 objections received.
Replying to that, Raikar announced that a meeting of the Slum Clearance board officials and Corporators would be held with the slum dwellers next Monday at the respective slums and applications would be issued to genuine beneficiaries.
Mayor Purushotham, Deputy Mayor Sharadamma, JNNURM Superintending Engineer Suresh Babu and others attended the meeting.
