Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa declared open the Dasara Expo by cutting the tape at the Main entrance and later lighting the traditional lamp yesterday.

Deputy Chairman of State Planning Commission Ramachandra Gowda, District in-charge Minister S.A. Ramdas, Mayor Sandesh Swamy, Deputy Mayor Pushpapaltha Jagannath, DC, MLA, Nanjundaswamy and officials were present.

The CM later garlanded the Swami Vivekananda bust near the entrance and also the bust of Dr. Rajkumar.

UID

Yeddyurappa also launched the Unique Identity (UID) number project in the State by being the first to be enrolled under Aadhar Project in the special stall created in the Expo premises.

Principal Secretary M.N. Vidyashankar told reporters that Tumkur and Mysore have been identified for launching the project in the State. The time needed for one enrollment is eight minutes, for checking the support documents. The number will be issued within 10 days after enrollment. In Mysore District, from October 20 and before December 31st, 450 centres will operate in the project, to issue the special UID number to all the people above the age of 18, and covering all villages also. COMET is assisting in the project, he said.

Ashok Dalvoy, Deputy Director, UID project from Delhi, was present. District in-charge Minister S.A.Ramdas also enrolled his name on the occasion.

The following records are needed in order to obtain the Unique Identity number:

Address:Passport, Bank passbook, post office pass book, voter identity card, ration card with photograph, driving licence, government identity card with photograph, insurance policy, electricity bill, water charges bill, property tax papers, landline telephone bill, credit card, Bank certificate on letter head with photograph affixed with signature, Registered Company's certificate on letterhead with photograph affixed with signature, letter from educational institutions, certificate on letterhead with photograph and signature, NREGA employment certificate, gun licence, pensioner's identity card, freedom-fighter's identity card, Raitha (Kissan) passbook, CGHS/ECHS identity card, identification letter issued by MPs, MLAs and MLCs, A grade Gazetted officers on letterhead with photograph, proof of address letter issued by chief of Gram Panchayat or equivalent (rural areas), Income Tax fixation order, vehicle registration certificate, Registered property sale/lease/ rent deed, proof of address letter with photograph issued by Postal Department, letter of domicile or caste certificate with photograph issued by State Govt. — any one of the above.

For identity: Passport, Income Tax PAN Card, Ration card with photograph, voter identity card, driving license, Government Identity card with photograph, NREGA employment card, identity card issued by any recognised educational institution, gun license, ATM Bank card with photograph, credit card with photograph, pensioner's identity card with photograph, freedom fighters identity card with photograph, Raitha (Kissan) passbook with photograph CGHS/ ECHS Identity Card with photograph, Name and address letter issued by Postal Department with photograph, certificate on letter head with photograph issued by a Grade Gazetted Officer.

For date of birth: Birth certificate, SSLC marks card, passport, certificate of birth issued on letterhead by A grade Gazetted officers — any one of the above.
