Mysore, July 14 (KCU&KK)- With Mayor Sandesh Swamy taking the initiative to get the premises of KR and Cheluvamba hospitals spruced up, about 100 Pourakarmikas, two excavators, a leveller and the Dhanush team assisted by the hospital staff numbering over 50, began mega cleaning operation this morning.

The premises of the two hospitals was littered with garbage - mostly plastic and tender coconut shells. Adding further woes were a huge growth of shrubs and weeds, not to mention heaps of uncleared debris.

Sandesh Swamy, speaking to SOM, opined that the hospital cleaning staff were inadequate and hence concentrated on housekeeping of interiors.

"To circumvent the problem, MCC will henceforth deploy 100 pourakarmikas and necessary aids to get the hospital premises cleaned once a month. The vacant space in hospitals will be maintained by the City Corporation and it is proposed to come up with an Ayurveda Park by planting about 500 saplings of medicinal plants. In short, a good green cover will be provided to improve the ambience", assured the Mayor. He instructed the authorities to keep 10 dust bins in the premises of the two hospitals.
