The Dasara Exhibition will be organised in a grand manner this Dasara 2013 with priority for cleanliness at the Expo premises, said Dr. H.T. Chandrashekhar, Chief Executive Officer of the Karnataka Exhibition Authority (KEA).

Addressing a press conference at his office in the Dasara Exhibition ground today, Dr. Chandrashekhar said that a sum of Rs. 10 lakh will be allotted for cleanliness alone, as against the Rs. 4 lakh last year.

A team of officials of the KEA recently visited the Infosys campus in Hebbal to study about plastic-free zone and no-smoking zone. The same will be implemented at the Expo premises to make it a plastic-free zone, the CEO said and added that public awareness programmes will also be held.

Global tenders

Global e-tenders will be called for running the expo stalls, with the minimum rate fixed at Rs. 3,80,90,000, he said, adding that the last date for submitting tenders is Sept. 7 and the same will be opened on Sept. 12.

A unique feature of this Dasara Expo will be Medical Tourism organised by the Department of Tourism, which will held for a period of 10 days, starting from day one of the Expo, at the Kannada Karanji building.

To ensure that there are no empty stalls at the Expo this time, the KEA has prepared a list of the government departments coming under the Zilla Panchayat that opened their stalls after many days of the inaugural and issue them notices.

A Helpline will be provided for customers having complaints at any of the stalls with mobile phone numbers prominently displayed at the Expo premises.

Water recycling unit, zero-waste management, play-things for children, amusement park for senior citizens and children and imposing spot fines on those who defecate or urinate in open spaces are some of the new features of this Dasara. Those who do not pay the fine, their photos, names and addresses will be displayed for public view, the CEO said.
