A city-based foreign student, who had booked three mobile tablets on June 6, 2013, through online shopping site, this morning was in for a rocking surprise. Out of the three, one was filled with pieces of granite rock.
It is reported that one Mohad Dismark Addai, who resides at No. 62, 3rd Cross, Siddalingeshwara Layout, behind Nirmithi Kendra in Bogadi, along with five other foreign students, had placed orders online through Homeshop Network 18 for three mobile tablets of Ambrane India with the address No. 206, Manasasarovara Building, Nehru Palace, New Delhi.
It is also reported that he received three boxes this morning through Indiaontime Courier Company represented by one Bharath. On opening the three boxes, Addai found that only two boxes contained the required tablets with the other one containing pieces of granite.
It is said that the company had offered to sell tablets at a discount price of Rs. 5,490 as against the quoted MRP of Rs. 8,850.
Meanwhile, when the mediapersons, went to the spot, the delivery boy was there and clarified that he was innocent and had just delivered what was given to him.
Meanwhile Ramachandra, an executive of the courier service, said that the company was delivering what had been handed over to them by the consigners and ruled out any foul play on the part of the local courier office.
Addai for now has paid for only two tablets and returned the box with the rocks to the courier service.
