Mysore, Nov. 2 (BRS)- Mysore City Corporation (MCC) is considering the step of sending by post the application forms relating to Unique Identification (UID) number under the Aadhaar project to the doorstep of city's residents. The measure is aimed at meeting the deadline of completing the project by Dec.31.
The officials were directed at a review meeting to speed up the enrolment process by opening more centres at places convenient to people in addition to the already setup six centers, including one at Dasara Expo, suggested opening of the centres in Taluks and Gram Panchayat limits for the benefit of the residents of rural areas.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has selected Mysore and Tumkur districts in Karnataka to implement Aadhaar project in the first phase. All possible measures will be taken to facilitate enrolment of all the residents of the district, said K.S. Raikar, MCC Commissioner.
About Aadhaar
Aadhaar is a 12-digit number that serves as a Unique Identification proof, which would be required for bank account, driving license, telephone connections, etc.
Residents need to fill up a prescribed application form and submit it along with a photo identity proof having residential and date of birth details.
