With just four days left for the inauguration of Dasara-2013, the city Police have geared up to provide elaborate security arrangements during the festivities by deploying a total of 6,700 Police personnel from Oct. 5 to 14.

City Police Commissioner Dr. M.A. Saleem, addressing a press conference at his office in Nazarbad here this morning, said that boarding facilities have been made for 3,000 Police personnel coming from outside Mysore.

Personnel from the KSRP, DAR, CAR, Mounted Police, Traffic and Women Police will be jointly deployed as part of security cover at all places where the Dasara programmes are to be held.

As many as 200 CCTV cameras are being installed —118 within and around the Palace, 22 along the Jumboo Savari route, 20 at the Torchlight Parade Ground in Bannimantap, 16 at Chamundi Hill and 24 at the Dasara Exhibition Ground. A dozen teams of Anti-Vandalism Force will also be deployed across the city, apart from bomb detection and deactivation squads.

Mesh barricades will be installed around all the venues of Dasara programmes and commandos of the internal security force will be positioned at the Bannimantap Parade Ground.

On Oct. 13 (Ayudha Puja) and Oct.14 (Vijayadashami), buses coming from mofussil areas will be made to park at the Scouts and Guides Ground near the DC office from 12 noon to 5 pm. The private bus stand at RMC Circle will be shifted to T. Narasipura road. Police kiosks will be provided for the tourists at the Railway Station and City Bus Stand, said Dr. Saleem, adding that the route map and details about parking facilities will be announced after two days.
