Chairperson of Children's Dasara Sub-Committee B.U. Chandrakala Murugesh disclosed that Children's Dasara will be conducted as part of this year's Dasara for five days from Oct. 10 to 14.

Addressing a press meeting in Zilla Panchayat Office here on Wednesday, she said that the event comprising different cultural programmes and fancy dress contests will be inaugurated at 10 am on opening day in Jaganmohan Palace auditorium by C.C. Patil, Minister for Women and Child Welfare.

Solo dance by children, which won the Kalashri and Balashri awards of Bal Bhavan and singing will mark the opening ceremony, she said, adding that fancy dress competitions will also be held on the same occasion for children of different age groups.

Magic show and cultural programmes by children of various schools will be conducted and stalls for sale of books and other articles needed by children will be set up in the Jaganmohan Palace premises. In addition, food stalls and sports stalls will be set up.

Talent search programmes, drawing competitions, Balayoga championships, martial arts and other programmes will be conducted. Yakshagana, art show, various musical concerts, traditional group dances and other cultural events will be held on a concluding day. Jadu Samrat Nagesh will present a magic show. A demo-cum-lecture by Snake Shyam and other programmes have also been arranged, she explained.

Arrangements will be made to take the children to Bal Bhavan, Mysore Palace and Mysore Zoo on all the days, she disclosed.
