Bangalore, July 10 (DM)- Tourism Minister G. Janardhan Reddy informed the Legislative Council on Thursday that the State Government has dropped the idea of building a ropeway to Chamundi Hill.
The project has been dropped in the wake of opposition from environmentalists. But the Hill would be provided all basic facilities and better roads, he added. Replying to a question by MLC Manohar Maski, Janardhan Reddy said a Rs. 64.18 crore proposal was sent to the JNNURM to develop the heritage area around Mysore Palace under JNNURM following which Rs. 39.45 crore was released in the first phase.
The MCC has been entrusted with the responsibility of developing tourism facilities in the heritage area around Mysore Palace, he added.
