“Celebrating Mysore Dasara on a grand scale does not mean spending more money and display of wealth; organise the programmes properly and meaningfully,” said Dy. Commissioner C. Shikha and instructed the officials concerned to restrict to the budget allocated to sub-committees as excess amount, if spent, will not be released.

She was speaking at a meeting of all Mysore Dasara Sub-Committees yesterday at the DC office meeting hall to discuss about allocating budget. Additional DC Naga Naik, MCC Commissioner P.G. Ramesh, AC Basavaraj, all other Deputy Special Officers, Working Presidents and Secretaries of all Sub-Committees attended the meeting. The DC advised them to give focused publicity, go for in-house publicity like reaching out to colleges, target group etc., and suggested that hoardings, if displayed, should not be a menace to the road-users or spoil the aesthetics.

“There will be a centralised tender system this year too and all committees must ensure that rates do not vary from one Committee to another,” she said.

“Invitations will be common for all sub-committees and there is no need of printing separate invitations from each committee,” the DC said.

The DC also directed the officials not to take up works that cannot be completed by Mysore Dasara 2013, but tackle only with urgent works.

She urged to give priority to cleanliness and said that each committee should make provision for cleanliness out of their budget to keep their function premises clean and hygienic.
