Canara Bank celebrated its 108th Founder’s Day yesterday across the country. November 19 being the birth day of Sri Ammembala Subbarao Pai, who is the founding father of this great institution, the Bank celebrated his birth anniversary in a befitting manner by opening 108 branches and 108 ATMs across the country.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddharamaiah inaugurated centrally all these Branches and ATMs from Bangalore.
Canara Bank Circle Office Mysore also celebrated Founder’s Day by holding CSR activities like distribution of fruits to patients at various Hospitals, Orphan Schools, student scholarships, sponsoring utility articles to homes of destitute, physically challenged persons etc., in all 134 branches of the Circle spread across five districts — Mysore, Hassan, Mandya, Kodagu and Chamarajanagar.
On the occasion, two specialised branches were given soft launching at Mysore — an Asset Recovery Branch at Nazarbad and a Micro Finance Branch at Lashkar Mohalla. Asset Recovery Branch mainly focus on recovery of bad-debts and Micro Finance Branch will serve to the needs of SHGs, Joint Liability Groups and other small borrowers, specifically.
Canara Bank Circle Office Mysore also donated a gigantic ‘Hundi Box’ to Chamundi Temple. Handing over the Hundi to the Temple, Dr. S. T. Ramachandra, Deputy General Manager, said that Canara Bank, having already extended e-Seva facility to the temple, also installed an ATM at Chamundi Hill and is looking forward to provide all banking facilities for the benefit of devotees, whose turn- out is very huge to this hill.
Under CSR activity, Canara Bank also sponsored day’s free food programme and distributed fruits to cancer patients at Bharath Hospital and Institute of Oncology in Hebbal. The Bank also sponsored various competitions to KSS Anathalaya, Orphan’s school at Nanjumalige and distributed prizes to inamates. An UPS was donated to Wesley Girls Hostel through Canara Bank, Nanjumalige Branch.
