Mysore, Sept. 23 (AB&KMC)- "Islam is against terrorism and strongly opposes the acts of terrorism perpetrated in the country in the name of Jehad," said Rafiuddin Kudroli, Chairman of New Age India Forum.
He was delivering a special lecture at the Eid Milan programme for communal harmony, held under the aegis of Karnataka Byari Sahitya Academy and The Byari Welfare Association of Mysore, at R.K. Palace Function Hall in Udayagiri on Tuesday.
"The holy Quran propounds the philosophy that to punish an innocent is equal to punishing the entire human race. It also states that the guilty must be adequately punished. Then, how can the Muslims support or get involved in terrorism?" he asked and alleged that the acts of terror were conducted by some whose objectives were to defame Islam.
He called upon Muslim brethren to practice restraint following the announcement of Ayodhya verdict by Allahabad Court on Sept. 24 and cautioned against indulging in activities that may lead to communal unrest.
Earlier, Andolana Editor Rajashekhar Koti inaugurated the Eid Milan programme. The Byari literary and cultural programme was inaugurated by Star of Mysore Managing Editor Vikram Muthanna.
Jaya Karnataka Vice-President Mohammed Ali, Karnataka Byari Sahitya Academy President M.B. Abdul Rehman, Academy Registrar Chandrahas Rai, Mohammed Haji and others were present on the occasion.
