Wearing black dresses, about 12 Diploma students of Bharathiya Ranga Shikshana today staged a protest at the entrance of Rangayana in Kalamandira premises demanding that they be allowed to perform dramas which were a part of their curriculum.

The protestors also alleged that despite being students of Diploma courses in theatre arts, they were not being allowed to stage dramas thus putting their future career in jeopardy.

They further alleged that Rangayana Deputy Director Nirmala Matapathi was treating them as workers and further alleged that they had not been provided opportunities to stage dramas despite undergoing theatre arts courses for a long time.

They also stated that they would continue their protest till Rangayana Director Dr. B.V. Rajaram came to the spot and addressed their grievances.

Meanwhile, Dr. Rajaram said that the issue would be resolved through talks. Praveen, Pavithra, Gopal, Dhananjay, Manjula, Malashree and others took part in the protest.
