Bangalore, June 3 (SH)- Priority being accorded to Biotechnology after Information Technology which has surged forward, parks focused on Bt will be set up at Mysore, Mangalore, Dharwad and Bidar, declared Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa.
Speaking after inaugurating Bangalore India Bio-2010 here yesterday, Yeddyurappa said that Karnataka's share in the country's total annual turnover from Bt sector was 28 per cent. Karnataka government was according high priority to the sector, he added.
Out of the top ten Bt companies across the world, five were located in Bangalore, he said, adding that many changes had taken place in the Bt sector since the State had brought in the Bt Policy in 2009. As a result of those changes, mega progress was taking place in the sector, he said.
In the current context, there was a need to accord high priority to research in the area of biotechnology, Yeddyurappa suggested adding that the State Government would extend support to strengthening the Bt sector.
Investors had come forward in large numbers to invest in IT and BT sectors in the State during the on-going Global Investors Meet, he disclosed. He invited Bt entrepreneurs to take part in the meet.
