With the most-publicised Modi’s rally to be held in Bangalore on Nov. 17, the ‘Walk for the Nation’ organised by the City and District Units of BJP was flagged off by former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar this morning in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy temple near Palace here.
More than 500 BJP activists from the district are participating in the walk to Bangalore to create awareness among people on the failures of the present UPA Government at the Centre and seek support for Narendra Modi, projected as BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate.
The women participants of the rally were dressed in saffron coloured saris while their male counterparts were seen wearing white T-shirts sporting pictures of Modi and S.A. Ramdas along with saffron coloured caps. They were seen holding BJP flags.
Two BJP rathas were also part of the rally which were loaded with portraits of Modi and belting out specially composed songs in appreciation of Modi. Also in tow were a couple of folk troupes presenting colourful dances to add a bit of glitter and get rid of boredom during the long trek to the State capital.
Corporator Snake Shyam, who was dressed as a Maharaja, attracted everyone’s attention at the venue of the rally. He too joined the rallyists in their padayatra to Bangalore.
Addressing the rallyists, Jagadish Shettar said that the rally would be an eye-opener throwing light on the misdeeds of the Congress-led UPA Government which should mobilise a mammoth support for Narendra Modi to turn a new leaf at the Centre.
The rally was led by former Minister S.A. Ramdas.
Former Minister Appachu Ranjan, former MLC Thontadarya, MLC G. Madhusudan, District BJP President Hemanthkumar, City BJP President E. Maruthi Rao Pawar, leaders Yashaswini Somashekar, C. Ramesh, Mallappa Gowda, M.V. Ravishankar, former MUDA Chairman L. Nagendra and others were part of the rally.
