Mysore, Apr. 3 (KK&KMC)- With Gram Panchayat elections in Mysore Division approaching, the BJP seems to be determined to clinch victory in as many GPs as possible.

As such, the State BJP will be hosting Vijaya Sankalpa Samavesha, a massive convention of party workers, elected representatives and office-bearers at the NIE College ground in city on Apr. 6, from 1 pm to 4 pm.

The convention will be inaugurated by Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa. BJP State President K.S. Eshwarappa, former Union Minister Ananth Kumar and other leaders are to participate in the convention.

Elections for the 230 GPs coming under Mysore division (Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Mandya and Hassan districts) will be held, electing 808 members — 235 in Mysore, 114 in Chamarajanagar, 233 in Mandya and 230 in Hassan district.

District BJP President and MLC Siddaraju told SOM yesterday that more than 5,000 party members are expected to attend the convention which is aimed at boosting the morale of the party workers, with determination of victory in the elections.

Ex-MP C.H. Vijayashankar, providing details about the convention, said that similar conventions will be held in seven other places in the State.

The National BJP, under the leadership of its President Nithin Gadkari, will be launching an intensive agitation against the UPA Government on April 21 in New Delhi, protesting against price rise and other issues.
