Mysore, Feb. 25 (SH)- Renowned film actress of yesteryears Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, wife of Kannada film world's popular thespian late Dr. Vishnuvardhan, will be conferred the Hon. Doctorate degree by the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) for the year 2009-10.

Sources in KSOU, disclosing the decision, said that the honour being done to the actress was in recognition of her exemplary services to the film industry in particular and society in general.

The degree of D. Litt Honoris Causa will be conferred upon Bharathi Vishunvardhan during the 10th convocation of KSOU on March 4 in the Senate Bhavan (Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Auditorium) in Manasagangothri here at 4 pm.

Hon. Doctorates will also be conferred on late Ragi Lakshma-naiah (posthumously) in recognition of his achievements in the field of developing new breeds of ragi (finger millet) and two other scientists, according to KSOU sources.

Lokayukta Justice B. Santhosh Hegde will deliver the convocation address. Governor Hans Raj Bharadwaj, who is the Chancellor of all Universities in Karnataka, will preside.

Minister for Higher Education Aravinda Limbavali and KSOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.S. Rangappa will be present.
