Higher Education Minister R.V. Deshpande presented Hon. Doctorate to Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji of Avadhoota Datta Peetha on Ooty Road in city, at a function held at the Ashram's Nada Mantapa yesterday. The Doctorate has been awarded by Krishnadevaraya University of Bellary.

Speaking on the occasion, Deshpande lauded Krishnadevaraya University for recognising the contribution of the Swamiji to the field of music.

The Minister appealed to the Swamiji to set up higher education institutions in the future for the benefit of the youth.

Ganapati Swamiji, speaking on the occasion, said he felt happy on receiving the Hon. Doctorate of Krishnadevaraya University and he would dedicate the Doctorate to Sadguru. The Swamiji later released his English work on music titled 'Raga Ragini Nadayoga.'

The Seer had been invited to the University's first Convocation held on March 20, 2013 at Bellary. However, since he could not attend it due to his preoccupations, the Doctorate was presented to him yesterday.

Incidentally, the Swamiji has been presented the Doctorate on the eve of his birthday today (June 23).

University VC Manjappa D. Hosamane, Registrars Prof. K.V. Vijaykumar & Prof. Rangaraju and others were present.
