Dr. Gokare A. Ravishankar, Vice-President, R&D, Life Sciences, Dayananda Sagar Institutions, Bangalore and former Chief Scientist and Head Plant Cell Biotechnology Department, for 18 years, at Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore, was awarded Certified Food Scientist (CFS) title by the International Food Certification Commission. The first batch of CFS was inducted recently by Institute of Food Technologists, USA at Chicago.

This is in recognition for demonstrating competence and proficiency in food science as demonstrated by professional experience and education, committing to the ongoing professional development in the practice of food science.

Dr. Ravishankar was awarded the SAB Grand Medal by the Society for Applied Biotechnology of India for his brilliant contributions to food science and technology for exceptional potential to shape the future through intellectual and inspired leadership in food biotechnology.

He is a Fellow of Association of Food Scientists and Technologists of India- AFST (I) and recipient of Laljee Goodhoo Smarak Nidhi award and the prestigious Prof V. Subramanyan Industrial Achievement Award of AFST (I).

He is also a Professor of Biotechnology and has been the Visiting Professor to few Universities abroad.

He is presently the Hon. President of the Association of Microbiologists of India, Bangalore Chapter.
