In a nation-wide initiative, set top boxes will be installed in the cities in three stages and Mysore is among the second stage cities.
With this initiative, now Set Top Box is a must to avail cable services and a deadline of Mar. 31 is set for all the subscribers to equip their TV with the same.
Assistant Commissioner of Mysore Sub-Division Basavaraju, who held a meeting with the cable operators recently, instructed them to supply quality set top boxes to the customers.
There are 2.19 lakh TV sets in the city alone with cable connection. Of them 40,000 have direct to home (DTH) facility and 36,000 have set top boxes. The remaining 1.8 lakh customers are yet to avail set top boxes. The existing cable service trough analog signal will remain till March 31.
