Mysore, Feb. 20 (RK)- A unique 24-hour non-stop drawing programme in festival mode began in city this morning.
More than 40 artists, all drawing teachers in various educational institutions, men and women, are taking active part in the event from 10 am today to 10 am tomorrow organised under the auspices of Mysore District Drawing Teachers' Association.
The festival, aimed at creating awareness about the finer aspects of drawing in particular and art in general, was inaugurated by K.S. Dharmendra, President, Mysore ZP in B.V. Karanth Rangamandira at Dasara Exhibition Grounds here this morning.
S. M. Jambukeshwar, renowned wildlife photographer and member, Lalith Kala Academy, presided.
Nanda Halemane, environmentalist, Basavannachar, State award winner in drawing, senior artist Kripachar, B.P. Manjunath, Chairman, Karnataka Exhibition Authority, G.N. Seetharamaiah, ex-Corporator and artist, Mahamad Ali, Vice President, Jayakarnataka and K.S. Rajesh, Gen. Secretary, were the guests of honour.
The art work during the festival covers visual arts, festive scenes, contemporary life, past glory and heritage, rural scenario and other subjects.
H.R. Lokesh, President, Association of Drawing Teachers, Mysore District, G.R. Shivakumar, Secretary, Thoremavu Mahadevaswamy, Joint Secretary, J.Nagaraj, Organising Secretary, Puttaraju, Treasurer and others were present.
