Marking I-Day, Geetha Gayana musical evening by Archana Udupa was organised by Aniketana Seva Trust at Sougandhika Park in Kuvempunagar yesterday.

The programme featured Bhavageethe, patriotic songs and old Kannada film hits, all invoking devotion and hailing the greatness of the State and nation.

Inaugurating the programme, Minister Sreenivasa Prasad said that I-Day was being observed throughout the country by people of all religions. He paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters who got the country freed from the clutches of the British rule.

KSOU VC Prof. M.G. Krishnan, Singer H.R. Leelavathi, journalist Ravindra Bhat, Dr. S. Ranganathaiah, Additional Regional Commissioner K.M Chandregowda, young talents Sahan Alva and V. Nitin were felicitated by Co-operation Minister H.S. Mahadeva Prasad.

Adichunchanagiri Mutt’s Sri Someshwaranath Swamiji graced the occasion. MLA M.K. Somashekar presided. Legislators Sa. Ra. Mahesh, Marithibbegowda, G.T. Devegowda, K.V. Narayanaswamy, Vasu, CESC MD A.B. Ibrahim, City Police Commissioner Dr. M.A. Saleem, MCC Commissioner P.G. Ramesh, Trust President and Corporator K.V.
