“Separate counters have been set up at various branches of Nationalised Banks across the city to help LPG consumers to link their bank accounts with Aadhar numbers to avail the benefits under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme which was launched in city on July 1,” said District Lead Bank Manager K.N.Shivalingaiah here today.
He was speaking after launching the day-long awareness campaign organised by the Mysore District Bankers Forum at the Krishnamurthypuram Branch of State Bank of Mysore (SBM) near Ashoka Circle in city to bring all LPG consumers into the DBT loop and link their documents.
He said that the staff manning the counters will help consumers having bank accounts to link their accounts with Aadhar numbers besides helping non-account holders to open their accounts.
Shivalingaiah also said that such awareness campaigns had been launched simultaneously at SBM Zonal Office in T.K.Layout, opposite Krishna Dhama and SBM branches at Vijayanagar 3rd stage and Krishnamurthypuram; branches of Canara Bank in Nazarbad and Siddarthanagar; branches of Cauvery Grameena Bank at J.P.Nagar and Dattagalli (Vivekanandanagar).
The awareness campaign has also been launched at Syndicate Bank branches at Chamundipuram and Saraswathipuram; branches of Vijaya Bank in Vijayanagar and Bogadi; branches of Corporation Bank in Niveditha Nagar and Saraswathipuram and Yadavagiri branch of Indian Overseas Bank.
S.C. Saldanha, Chief Manager of SBM, Krishnamurthypuram and other bank officials were present.
Many staff members were seen assisting consumers in the Aadhar-linking process.
