Mysore, July 18 (KMC)- The MUDA has proposed to restrict the 8-lane Outer Ring Road (ORR) project under JNNURM to six-lane, as per the present requirement and use the excess money to complete the pending work of the Ring Road linking Bannur and Nanjangud roads.
Deputy Commissioner Harsha Gupta, who is also the MUDA Chairman, stated the above at the JNNURM works progress review meet held here yesterday.
He said that the process of land acquisition for the 9.5 km-long stretch of Ring Road from Bannur Road to Nanjangud Road was completed and to mobilise funds for taking up the road construction work, slight changes will be made in the 8-lane ORR project.
"Completion of the ORR is very essential to ease traffic congestion in city, which is increasing by the day," said the DC and added that similar opinion was expressed by the City Police Commissioner also. As per the City Transport Management Programme report, a four-lane Ring Road will suffice for Mysore city for the next 10 years.
In consideration of this, the 8-lane ORR project will be restricted to six-lane, by which about Rs. 35 crore will be saved and it can be used for constructing the incomplete stretch of Ring Road, the DC said and directed the officials to speed up the work.
