Mysore, Mar. 24 (KK&SH)- Nearly 3,000 students and teachers of all the 14 institutions of Vidya Vikas Educational Institutions took part in a peace run in city this morning.

The event at promoting awareness about removal of terrorism in the world marked the 13th Foundation Day of Vidya Vikas Educational Institutions.

DCP (Law & Order) B.R. Ravikanthegowda flagged off the run at 7.15 am in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy temple.

Kaveesh Gowda, Secretary, Vidya Vikas and Dr. B. Chandrashekhar, Principal, Vidya Vikas Engineering College were present. Students of primary, middle and high schools were attired in white uniform while students of colleges and teachers were in their coloured dress.

The peace run covered Hardinge Circle, Police Commissioner's office in Nazarbad, Gopala Gowda Shanthaveri Hospital before reaching the Engineering College premises on Bannur road by about 8.45 am. Traffic was monitored by the city Traffic Police.

The runners, moving at slow pace in an orderly manner, also carried banners with anti-terrorist legend written in Kannada and English with a message against terrorist activities. They raised slogans calling for peace across the world. The runners were received by Institution Chairman Vasu when they reached the Engineering College.
