Mysore, Apr. 2 (KMC)- A young Karnatak classical vocalist of our city, S.A. Vinayak, aged 12 years, had the rare previlege of impressing the former President of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam with his singing of classical music at the Raj Bhavan in Bangalore on Jan. 9, 2010.

This child prodigy of a classical singer, who has already won many laurels, added one more recently by winning the Outstanding Achievement Award instituted by the Department of Women and Children's Welfare, at the International Women's Day celebration held in Sahakara Bhavan in city recently. The award comprises a citation and cash prize of Rs. 10,000.

Vinayak, a sixth standard student of CFTRI School in city, has won several awards and citations for his achievement in classical music. His programmes are aired by Akashavani and telecast by DD Chandana channel.

Music maestro Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna, spotting the latent talent in the lad, has accepted him as his disciple and invited him to Chennai for training from May onwards.
