The network of roads and streets in Mysore follows a hub and spoke mechanism with arterial roads originating from the centre of the city i.e., the Palace area. There are 48 main roads in the Mysore city covering a total length of around 58 kms.

Mysore has inter city and sub-urban public bus transportation. The system run by KSRTC operates from newly renovated 'City Bus Stand', located in the heart of the city and connects to most major sections of the city. Auto-rickshaws and Taxis are also available for intra-city commute. Tonga's (horse drawn carriages) are also available, but are becoming rare.
