Bangalore, July 27 (KCU)- Transport Minister R. Ashok has announced that the bus passes issued to school and college students are valid even on Sundays and holidays.

Speaking to press persons here yesterday, Ashok observed that students go for tuitions or special classes on holidays and to facilitate them, the decision has been taken. He added that the facility will be applicable to KSRTC, NESRTC, NWSRTC and BMTC buses.

"The hassles in obtaining bus passes by students of vocational course have been eased. Normally the bus passes are issued in the months of June and July. It will be valid for 10 months. However, vocational courses usually commence later in September. Hence the bus passes will be made valid for 10 months after the commencement of any course to make it convenient for students opting for the course of their choice", explained Ashok.

The Minister pointed that buses have to be mandatorily stopped by the drivers at the designated bus stops near schools and colleges. He warned of action against concerned officers if the rule was not adhered to.
