Mysore Dasara 2013 programmes took off to a colourful start with the launch of Yuva Sambhrama at the Open Air Theatre in Manasagangotri here last evening.

District in-charge Minister V. Sreenivasa Prasad together with Actor-turned-MP Ramya inaugurated the programme.

Students from various colleges presented colourful cultural programmes enthralling the audience mostly youth with songs and dances which drove them into raptures inspiring to shake their legs.

Students of Fine Arts College in Manasagangotri presented a welcome dance followed by students of Chaitra PU College of Shivapura dancing to a medley of Kannada, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu film hits commemorating the centenary of Indian cinema.

Special students of government school for the Deaf and Dumb presented an episode of Dashavathara surprising the audience with their perfect rhythmic dance matching the background score. They also presented Mahishasura Mardhina.

Students of SJCE presented a western dance driving the crowd frenzy and ecstatic. Later students of colleges from T. Narasipur, Hassan and Shimoga presented various items.

Speaking on the occasion, Sreenivasa Prasad said that good rains had brought cheers in State adding further glamour to Dasara.

The presence of Ramya was an added attraction.

MLA Vasu presented mementos to the participating teams.

Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha, Mayor N.M. Rajeshwari, Deputy Mayor Shailendra, MCC Commissioner P.G. Ramesh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Naga Nayak, DCP Rajanna, MUDA Commissioner S. Palaiah, office-bearers of Yuva Sambhrama Sub-Committee and others were present.

The Yuva Sambhrama will be held at the same venue till Oct. 3 between 6 pm and 10 pm.
