Asst. labour commissioner's call to extend ESI benefits to employees

All Industries, Labour Contractors, Educational Institutions and Service Providers should extend ESI benefits to their employees, appealed Venkatesh A. Shindihatti, Assistant Labour Commissioner here yesterday.

He was presiding over the ESI Local Committee Meeting held at Mysore Industries Association (MIA) on KRS Road here.

Some of the Labour Union members, who were present at the meeting, demanded quality medicines in ESI Hospitals and Dispensaries.

Dr. M.R. Jagannath, Medical Superintendent of ESI Hospital, assured that within six months the upgraded ESI Hospital will be opened and provide all medical facilities to the ESI beneficiaries.

Suresh Kumar Jain, MIA General Secretary, suggested the Committee for an interaction meeting with Labour Secretary to sort out the need-based supply of medicines in ESI Hospitals. The meeting also decided to send a proposal to Government to start dispensaries in new areas, particularly at Alanahalli where more number of educational institutions and industrial employees are residing.
