“Jayachamaraja Wadiyar strived for the welfare of all communities,” opined Ashwathanarayan, President of Ursu Mandali. He was speaking at a programme organised by Ursu Mandali at Amba Vilas Palace here on Thursday to mark the 94th birth anniversary of Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar. He first offered puja to Goddess Chamundeshwari and floral tributes to a portrait of Wadiyar.

Ashwathanarayan regretted that though Wadiyar strived so much, the Urs community have been living a life of penury.

Teacher Krishnamurthy, speaking on the occasion, recalled that Wadiyar was a visionary and multi-talented person with immense contribution to literature and music. He sought a suitable status for the Urs community who once ruled the State.

Mandali Honorary President M.G.R. Urs, Prabhudevaraje Urs and others were present.
