Gastronomes having a weakness for delicacies will have the best place to pamper their taste buds this Dasara.

The Dasara Sub-Committee and Food Mela Sub-committee have decided to organise this year’s Food Mela on a larger scale at the Scouts and Guides grounds from Oct. 5 to 12.

CM Siddharamaiah will inaugurate the Food Mela along with Food and Civil Supplies Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on Oct. 5 at 3 pm. Siddharamaiah will have food at the Mela with differently-abled children to mark the inauguration.

People will get to taste some of the most unique cuisines from all over the country and State. The Sub-Committee has decided to have separate counters for food items of Karnataka and for variety of cuisines od other States. This apart, there will a separate lane for chat lovers. The Sub-Committee will be introducing a separate counter for non-vegetarian food also.

Plans are also on the anvil to introduce five-star culture to the visitors, said Rajendra, President of Dasara Food Mela Sub-Committee addressing the press persons here at a meet yesterday. In this year’s Food Mela, hotels such as Country Inn and Suites, The Quorum, and Café Coffee Day & McCain Food chains will also participate.

The Food Mela will have exclusive lanes called the Taste of Karnataka, where main delicacies of all the 30 districts of the State will be available and another lane called Taste of India, where food from the other States of the country will be served to the visitors.

The visitors, along with food tasting at the Mela, can shake a leg at the cultural programmes like Yakshagana, folk music and dance by artistes from Kerala and Coastal regions, which is being organised at the venue everyday at 6 pm.

Rajendra assured of a successful Dasara Food Mela this year too. Deputy Special Officer B.A. Gopal, Working President Devaraj, Vice-President Manjula and others were present.
