2nd incident in 4 months

Mysore, Oct. 21 (RK&KMC)- The Police Public School in Gayathripuram here received a bomb threat this morning, prompting the Head Mistress to call the Police, who combed the entire school premises and discovered the threat to be a hoax.

This is the second such incident at the school, after a similar hoax bomb threat made on June 10 last.

The call was made at 10 am. It was received by the Head Mistress Usha Rao. She was told by the anonymous caller that 2 RDX bombs had been placed in the school campus which would go off in half-an-hour. She immediately called up the Police who rushed to the school along with bomb disposal squad, sniffer dogs and fingerprint experts. All the students, teachers and staff were made to assemble on an open space and the entire campus was thoroughly searched for explosives. After nearly an hour’s search, it was evinced that the threat was a hoax.

Following the first incident of bomb threat, a caller-identity instrument was installed to the office telephone. Thus, the call made from the number 4252924, was traced to a public phone booth on Gurukar Road in K.R. Mohalla.

Additional SP P. Venkataswamy, who visited the spot, said that a hunt for the miscreant has been launched.
