“Inflation and downward trend of rupee value hinder the progress of the nation,” opined Prof. S. Bisalaiah, former Vice-Chancellor, University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS).

He was addressing the gathering at the Prof. G.T. Hutchappa memorial lecture on ‘Present Macro Economic problems and fiscal polices in India’ organised by the Department of Economics and Co-operative Studies of Mysore University at EMMRC auditorium in Manasagangotri here on Wednesday.

“Economic recession in the US has resulted in the drop in demand for Indian goods in the global market. There has been a drop in revenue to the country and increased expenses contribute to financial crunch”, said Bisalaiah advising students to acquire knowledge through journals instead of just sticking to the curriculum. Department Chairperson Prof. D.S. Leelavathi and others were present.
