The DDPI’s decision to conduct yet another preparatory exam for SSLC students has been strongly opposed by political leaders and teachers association.
MLC Marithibbegowda has termed the decision to conduct yet another preparatory examination as unscientific. He has said that the educational activities for this academic year had already been completed as per the guidelines of the Department of Public Instruction. This apart the students have already appeared for the State-level preparatory exam conducted from March 4 to 13 and are gearing up for the main exams to be held from April 1. At a time when students are preparing for them main exams, conducting yet another preparatory exam is not advisable.
Marithibbegowda has also stated that holding one exam after another will not serve any purpose as it would put students under more pressure. He has also written a letter to the Secretary, Department of Public Instruction to initiate action against DDPI for coming out with such an unscientific decision.
Not only Marithibbegowda, even District Co-operative Union President and KJP leader H.V. Rajiv has also condemned the decision to conduct yet another preparatory exam. In his statement Rajiv has said that the students have already appeared for 3-4 preps and yet another would add extra pressure on them while they are preparing for the main exam.
Even the Karnataka State High School Assistant Teachers Association has requested the department not to conduct yet another preparatory exam. Association President C.B. Arun Kumar has said that SSLC students had already appeared for 4 preps for the academic year 2012-13 and extra coaching was being given to the weaker students in an effort to increase the pass percentage of District.
