The coastal art of Yakshagana will unfold on the Jaganmohan Palace stage for five days during the ‘Yaksha Panchami’ fest from July 23 to 27 everyday from 6.30 pm to 10 pm under the aegis of Bellippadi Yaksha Samskruthika Vedike and Sri Nidle Mahaganapathi Yakshagana Mandali.
July 23: The fest will be inaugurated by Forest Minister B. Ramanatha Rai at 6.30 pm. IGP (Southern Range) Dr. Ramachandra Rao, litterateur Dr. Kabbinale Vasantha Bharadwaj and Bangalore’s Central Excise Superintendent Ashok will be present as the chief guests. The yakshagana show to be presented on the occasion is ‘Poorvaranga- Narakasura Moksha.’
July 24: Yakshagana ‘Andhaka Moksha’; Urban Development Minister Vinaykumar Sorake will preside. IGP and Karnataka Police Academy Director A.S.N. Murthy, SJCE Principal Prof. B.G. Sangameshwara and critic G.S. Bhatta will be the chief guests.
July 25: Yakshagana show ‘Sri Krishna Garudi’; Youth Services & Sports and Fisheries Minister Abhaykumar Jain will preside. Chief guests are MLA Vasu, Excise and Lottery Enforcement SP Basavaraja Malagatti and SOM Managing Editor Vikram Muthanna.
July 26: Yakshagana show ‘Draupadi Pratapa’; Kannada & Culture Secretary Basavaraju will preside. Retd. Police officer L. Revannasiddaiah, CESC Vigilance SP K.P. Bheemaiah, SDM Principal Damodara Gowda and Retd. Police officer Subbanna Shetty will be the chief guests.
July 27: Yakshagana ‘Bhee-shma Pratijne’; Star of Mysore Editor-in-Chief K.B. Ganapathy will preside; KPA Dy. Director Dr. Dharanidevi Malagathi, Chartered Accountant and art patron G.N. Ananthavardhana and Vidya Vikas College Chief Administrator Balachandragowda will be the chief guests.
