The World Day Against Child Labour will be observed on June 12 at the Jaganmohan Palace in city under the joint auspices of District Legal Services Authority, District Administration, Women and Child Development Department, Labour Department and other organisations.

The above was decided at a meeting held recently under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Ramegowda.

The DC instructed the officials of various departments to organise jatha, street plays and other programmes as part of the observance. The occasion should not be restricted for only one day. Concerned officials should take action to formulate plans for organising the programmes throughout the year.

To mark the occasion, programmes should be organised under the leadership of the respective at taluk level Tahasildar, Panchayat Development Officer at Gram Panchayat level and under the supervision of Anganawadi activists at village level. All these should be done under the overall supervision of Asst. Commissioners of Mysore and Hunsur Sub-Divisions, the DC said.

The theme of the Day this year is to work hard for the progress of child labourers engaged in domestic work (Domestic Child Labour). A circular will be issued in this regard that all the employees of government and private organisations in the district should take an oath that they will not engage child labourers at their house or in their organisations, he said.

The work of finding and rehabilitating child labourers working at houses and other places should go on continuously. He requested the people of the district to provide information to the Labour Officer if they come across child labourers working at different places.

Addl. DC Naga Nayak, DCP K.P. Bheemaiah, Addl. SP R.B. Mohan Reddy, District Labour Officer Jaheer Basha, officials of different departments and office-bearers of organisations and associations were present at the meeting.
