The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of the National Institute of Engineering (NIE), Mysore, is organising a week-long TEQIP sponsored workshop on ‘Recent Trends in Power System Operation and Control’ from July 8 at Sir M.V. Hall, NIE Golden Jubilee Complex.
The workshop brings together utilities, power systems operators, industrial experts, and domain expert professors from premier national academic institutions to exchange knowledge, ideas and share their experience on recent trends in power system operation and control.
The workshop participants are faculty members from various engineering colleges, government polytechnic colleges, practicing engineers from various industries and utilities, and PG and research students.
The workshop will cover a wide range of issues including renewable energy integration, smart grid, power system stability, modern trends in protection, power system automation, and ABT mechanism and open access. In order to understand the present operation and control practices, two utility visits to Area Load Dispatch Centre (ALDC), Mysore, and 400KV PGCIL receiving station, Mysore are planned.
Dr. W.M. Shivakumar, Director (Technical), MESCOM, Mangalore, will inaugurate the workshop on July 8 at 10 am.
Dr. K. Balaraman, General Manager, PRDC, Bangalore and S.L. Ramachandra, Hon. Secretary, NIE, will be the guests of honour. S.R. Subba Rao, President, NIE, will preside.
The valedictory function will be held on July 12 at 4 pm at Sir M.V. Hall, NIE. Thyagaraj, Executive Engineer, Telecommunications Division, KPTCL, Bangalore, will be the chief guest. Alfred Manohar, Managing Director, AMTECH, Bangalore will be the guest of honour.
S.K. Lakshminarayana, Hon. Treasurer, NIE, will preside. Dr. T. Ananthapadmanabha, Controller of Examinations and Professor, Dr. A. D. Kulkarni, Professor, H. Pradeepa, Assistant Professor and R. Chidanandappa, Assistant Professor of Department of EEE, are the Co-ordinators of this workshop, according to a press release from Dr. G.L. Shekar, Principal of NIE.
